My favourite kitchen companions: The tools I use again and again
Nothing fancy — just the kitchen stuff I actually use, love, and maybe panic a bit when I can’t find them!
I get asked all the time what my favourite kitchen item is, and honestly, it’s a bit of a tricky question. There’s no one item that does it all, right? I mean, depending on whether I'm in a soup phase, a bread-making kick, or simmering stews, my kitchen essentials change. But today, I’m sharing the ones I always end up going back to—the tools that just make life easier in the kitchen.
These are my tried-and-true favourites that help me cook whatever I'm craving. Let’s get into it!
1. The Everyday MVPs
The stuff I use so often, I don’t even bother putting them away.
Deli storage containers - a set of mixed sizes
Muji stainless steel trays - I use this to hold ingredients before cooking
Muji measuring spoons - Comes in a teaspoon and tablespoon size! Super convenient.
(PS: In case you can’t tell, I’m a huge fan of Muji’s stuff)
2. My Ride-or-Die Cookware
If these ever break... I might too.
MADE-IN Stainless Clad Frying Pan - My favourite pan for steaks!
Zojurushi Rice Cooker (0.5L) - the perfect ‘mini’ size rice cooker for 2-3 pax!
3. Team Fancy (But Worth Every Cent!)
Some things are splurges but these are the ones I don’t regret at all!

Le Creuset dutch oven - I use this to bake sourdoughs, make stews/soups
Balmuda toaster - for bread lovers! This toasts bread to perfection!! All. The. Time.
4. Quiet Heroes
The unassuming tools I didn’t know I needed until I had them — and now I can't imagine life without them.
Philips immersion hand blender - blend soups and sauces easily without the hassle of washing a huge blender
Muji stainless steel grater - grate ginger and garlic easily
Weck Jars, 290ml - these are amazing for overnight oats, pickles, sourdough starters & even as a matcha cup!
And that’s my kitchen crew — nothing fancy, just the tools that make everyday cooking a little smoother (and a lot more bearable). Got your own go-tos? I’m always curious what people actually use!! Drop it in the comments. :)
